Lanvin AW13Nature was the theme that linked 1950s silhouettes, bustier coats and long coat dresses in a playful AW13 collection by Alber Elbaz for Lanvin. Jewelled bug brooches piled onto tops were beautiful but creepy, as if the models were giant insect killer lamps. There was a lush monochrome butterfly print and smashed white corsages. This bug print came late in the show, on a super-relaxed jumpsuit, and then disappeared. Elbaz is such a flirt. Now here it is again, on this fine knit wool and silk dress, at Harvey Nichols. W Magazine called it a dung beetle print, which would be groovy if true. £1,045, www.harveynichols.com
Karen Millen AW13 biker jacket cropGivenchy’s came with a plush square velvet body, woven tweed sleeves and ribbed leather shoulder panels; Saint Laurent’s by Hedi Slimane came super shiny and seared with zippers, McQ Alexander McQueen’s came belted and faintly peplumed. For the high street response to the catwalk biker jacket, look no further than Karen Millen. The nipped waist, quilted sleeves and sides buckles of their limited edition biker jacket are lovely: that contrasting burst of soft shearling round the neck makes it something really special. £595, www.karenmillen.com
5 a side league football in londonThe term ‘statement jumper’ is in no danger of going away. One of the earliest exponents of bright knitwear, Chinti & Parker, is still going strong, riffing on its themes of colour-block cashmere and graphic detailing to perfection. Latest C&P love comes in the form of a resort collection developed exclusively for Matches. Nine luxurious sweaters inspired by neon tube lights and disco gently hint at kitsch 1950s motifs. Bisous and Kiss Me, indeed. From £320, www.matchesfashion.com
