The Campaign for Wool’s annual Wool Week marks its eighth year with a spot-on programme of events, exhibitions and activities designed to educate, inspire and promote the benefits of wool.

Friday 13 October, 10:30am to 12pm. ‘In Conversation With’ Edward Sexton and Gordon Richardson, supported by Tom Stubbs.
The juxtaposition of bespoke tailoring and high street menswear, Sexton, tailor to the likes of Mick and Bianca Jagger, Twiggy and Paul McCartney, and Richardson, creative director for Topman, will discuss the trends, creativity, iconic pieces, and inspiration that affects both high street menswear and bespoke tailoring.

Wool Week Discussion with Brora and Harris Tweed Hebrides
Focusing mainly on womenswear, Victoria Stapleton from Brora will talk about her journey from establishing Brora in 1993 to today’s business and how it has evolved. Brian Wilson from Harris Tweed Hebrides will highlight the unique process of weaving in the Hebrides, using the community working in their homes to weave the cloth and the authorisation process to obtain the seal of Harris Tweed approval.

Katie Jones Wool Week Crochet Patch Workshop
Katie will be hosting one of her fantastic crochet patch workshops were you can create patches and trims to personalise an item of clothing. This workshop only has 12 places available so you will get plenty of one-to-one teaching with Katie as well as taking home your new creations.

Wool And The Gang Wool Week ‘Knit a Hat’ workshop
Wool And The Gang are offering a ‘knit a hat’ workshop, with a tutor on hand, so this is perfect for any level of knitting, using the latest gorgeous wool coloured yarns from Wool and the Gang. This workshop only has 10 places available so you will get plenty of one-to-one teaching over the course of the workshop as well as taking home your new knitted woolly hat ready for the winter months ahead.

Christabel Balfour Wool Week Weaving Workshop
Christabel will be holding a 2-hour introduction to weaving, covering the basics of tapestry weaving as well as more advanced techniques such as shape-building, interlocking, soumak and rya knotting. Participants will go home with their own woven wall-hanging made in the class, and a copy of Christabel’s booklet “Tapestry Weaving : An Illustrated Guide.” All materials will be provided, including a large selection of natural wools.

Stitch Up Wool Week Macrame Wall Hanging workshop
Stitch-Up will be holding a 2-hour workshop covering the basics of macrame and guiding you through making your own wall hanging to take home with you. This workshop is supported by Wool And The Gang and you will be creating your wall hangings from the gorgeous new collection of Crazy Sexy Wool colours. This workshop only has 10 places available and is suitable for any level from beginners to advanced. All materials are included.

DAKS x Jamieson ‘In conversation with’ Luke & Hazel Robertson
To celebrate its collaboration with Jamieson, DAKS is presenting an “in conversation with” evening, with record-breaking explorers, Luke and Hazel Robertson. The couple have just returned from three months travelling the full length of Alaska by human power, including kayaking in the Pacific and Arctic Oceans. Complimentary treatments from Suqqu and Truefitt & Hill along with Drinks and Canapes will be provided.

Off-cut Polar Bear Workshop with Christopher Raeburn
Christopher Raeburn’s popular OFF-CUT ANIMAL WORKSHOP series returns in October for yet another Raeburn classic animal mascot; the POLAR BEAR! You’ll be choosing your own fabric combinations and working alongside Christopher and the talented team to make your own unique off-cut polar bear personally made by you to take home. Come and develop your creative skills through this hands-on experience. 10% of each ticket sold will be donated to WWF (www.wwf.org.uk).
