Traidremade teams up with Percival & Olivia Hegarty
For AW14, Traidremade teams up with Olivia Hegarty, the hugely talented designer for Soho-based mens label Percival. Hegarty has created a small collection of men and womenswear. True to TRAID's MO - protecting the environment by producing clothes sustainably - Hegarty has used only reclaimed textiles, including surplus fabrics from the factories and mills of luxury brands.
These are top quality, sustainably produced togs. The Men’s collection, Percival for Traidremade, includes shapes fans of Percival will know well. A single-breasted pea coat, cut from Melton wools in inky blue and chocolate brown and camel cashmere, is an inspired piece of workwear. Check shirts in soft brushed cotton, outer-shirts in block colours and unstructured blazers sit over slim-cut trousers.
Olivia Hegarty for Traidremade, the women’s collection, offers a gorgeous androgynous overcoat with wide collar and lapels in salt and pepper boucle as well as a long boyish blazer, with slim cut and soft shoulders.
‘Collaborations like these show that manufacturing high quality garments ethically is possible, providing inspiration for anyone interested in buying or making fashion sustainably,’ says Maria Chenoweth-Casey, Traidremade founder.
‘We’re excited by the opportunity to champion TRAID’s work to progress sustainable fashion through its label Traidremade,’ adds Hegarty. ‘The project combines our skills with TRAID’s resources. We share a love of local manufacturing and waste reduction through good design.’
